Baker Ruff Hannon was established in 1979 and provides project management, cost management and associated services. The majority of our projects are in social housing and we work with a number of organisations throughout the South West in this regard. We are currently engaged in a small Passivhaus scheme with one of our Clients and we are trying to encourage other providers to adopt the criteria to achieve environmental and economic benefits for their tenants. Our Partners have been engaged in the development of a Passivhaus swimming pool in the United Kingdom, which is a new if not unique concept.

Simplifying Passivhaus: Beattie Passive have developed an award winning, innovative offsite timber frame build technology that guarantees the performance of Passivhaus, delivering energy efficient homes in any design, shape or style. The complete build system (walls, roof and ground floor) is certified by the Passivhaus Institute and patented in 68 countries. The offsite timber frame system is designed and manufactured in the UK and provides a continuous insulation layer around the core of a timber framed structure. This greatly simplifies the delivery of Passivhaus, providing performance and quality certainty delivering high quality, energy efficient and healthy homes for all. We work with Self-builders, Housing Associations, Developers and Architects to offer a simple, fast, efficient construction solution for Passivhaus.

Bere:architects is one of the UK’s foremost Passivhaus practices and pioneers of ecological and environmental design. Founded by Justin Bere, the practice has won numerous design and sustainability awards and completed the first certified Passivhaus non-domestic retrofit in the UK, London’s first Passivhaus and two low cost, social housing, certified Passivhaus homes in south Wales. In 2012 bere:architects won the BRE’s competition to build Passivhaus housing on their Watford Innovation Park, is working on several new builds and retrofits to Passivhaus standard and is peer reviewing a new low energy library at UEL. Research through UK Government funded Technology Strategy Board monitoring and independent cost analysis work, and the sharing of these findings through presentations and publications, is a vital and integral part of bere:architects’ work.

Brennan & Wilson Architects


Based in East Lothian and working throughout Scotland and the North East, Brennan & Wilson Architects specialise in both rural and urban sustainable design of housing, commercial, community and arts projects. John Brennan and Julie Wilson met whilst working at Gaia Architects, and later formed Brennan & Wilson Architects in 2002. Julie Wilson is a European Certified Passive House Designer. The practice have completed their first project to passivhaus standards are currently carrying out post occupancy evaluation with Edinburgh University. John Brennan combines practice with academic education, and is programme Director for the MSc in Advanced Sustainable Design at Edinburgh University.

BSRIA is a test, instruments, research and consultancy organisation, providing specialist services in construction and building services. It provides testing of all building types for Building Regulation Compliance as well as advice and investigations for building performance, energy efficiency and occupant comfort. As a member-based association, profits are invested in on-going support for the industry to make buildings better.

The practice was established in Tunbridge Wells by Cecil Burns in 1909. On his retirement in 1965, the Practice was restyled Burns Guthrie and Partners. Since this date, the practice has maintained the same principles of professionalism and attention to detail. The current partners place a high value on partnership with all those with whom we work.
