This course is designed to prepare students for the Passive House Institute Certified European Passivhaus Designer’s (CEPH) exam. It is appropriate for construction industry professionals and contractors. Skills Focus funding is available towards course fees for eligible employers to up-skill staff or for self-employed students.
Entry requirements
A degree in a construction-related discipline. Mature candidates will be assessed on an individual basis.
Course content
Students will gain practical experience in the Passivhaus discipline. This will be coupled with knowledge of Accredited Materials, Products, SketchUP and Passive House Planning Package* software. NOTE *each student must have access to the PHPP software before enrolling for the Designer exam.
The course is delivered by qualified Passivhaus Designers and Trainers who have a range of construction industry experience. South West College has a wide range of facilities such as demonstration models of airtightness and MVHR units to demonstrate the practical aspects of the course and accredited materials and products for familiarization.
Programme
The course is delivered over 2 calendar weeks, either 9am - 5pm or 4pm - 9pm, in a blended model either from the South West College Enniskillen or Dungannon campus or online in a Microsoft Teams classroom.
Costs
The Passivhaus Designer course fee is £740 and the exam fee is £260, total cost of £1,000
Department for Economy Skills Focus funding is available towards the £740 course fee for eligible employers and Flexible Skills funding is available to cover the full fee of £1,000 for eligible students. From April 2024 this will reduce the course fee to £143 plus £260 exam fee, plus PHPP software cost.
