iPHA Webinar: Project Spotlight: Two pilot EnerPHit unit projects in Italy and Portugal

The next Project Spotlight will present the new EnerPHit Unit certification by examining the first two certified projects.

Laszlo Lepp of the Passive House Institute Innsbruck will introduce the new EnerPHit Unit certification. EnerPHit Unit is a variant of the EnerPHit retrofit standard through the component method, applicable for retrofitted units within multi-unit buildings.

Up to now, owners of individual apartments in multi-family buildings, or individual commercial units seeking to renovate their property would only be able to attain a precertification as part of an EnerPHit Retrofit Plan. But in many cases, the flat owner would have little opportunity to influence the changes on the rest of the building, owned by someone else. The concept of EnerPHit Unit has been developed to address these cases.

The Project Spotlight will look into the first two certified projects in depth. Francesco Nesi, head of ZEPHIR - Passivhaus Italy, will present the renovation of a single apartment unit in Bergamo. João Gavião of Passivhaus Portugal will present their own office space successfully renovated as an EnerPHit Unit project. A project of a single office room that was renovated in an existing non-renovated building. The heating demand was reduced by 75%, guaranteeing high levels of thermal comfort and good air quality.
