The Passivhaus standard is the fastest growing low energy standard in the world with over 30,000 building constructed to date. It is widely recognised as a route to very low energy consumption whilst achieving excellent indoor comfort levels. To achieve the Passivhaus standard the building must be able to achieve excellent airtightness levels and this must be confirmed using on site air leakage tests and commissioning of mechanical services.
Excellent onsite workmanship and attention to detail is critical in achieving the required Passivhaus standards. To aid this process a new qualification has been developed by the Passivhaus Institut to recognise those tradespeople that can demonstrate the required level of knowledge to construct a building to the Passivhaus standard.
During the training the class will split into separate groups with the delegates choosing which route they wish to take when booking, this could reflect their professional background or trade, the groups will then change and receive best practice guidance on their non specialist subject providing delegates with rounded knowledge on all aspects of Passivhaus construction. At the end of the training all delegates will reform into one group for a further training and QA session.
During the lunch break BRE will provide 'optional’ tours of the facilities which includes the largest ‘Anechoic Chamber' in Europe, our ‘Structural Lab’, ‘Burn hall’, and the ‘Timber Library’ giving an insight to the history of BRE.
This course qualifies as 2 days Construction Certification CPD.
