The Performance Gap

Post construction testing has repeatedly revealed a significant gap between the “designed” and “as-built” thermal performance of new homes. The Government is responding to this issue through its current review of the Building Regulations and support to a Zero Carbon Hub led industry work programme.

It appears that similar problems occur with energy efficiency improvements to existing homes, where the take-back and rebound effects lead to lower cost and energy savings than expected.

This seminar will explore steps that housing providers and developers are taking to ensure their low energy homes are comfortable, healthy and operating as designed. From our panel of high profile speakers you will hear the Government’s perspective on the Performance Gap, Zero Carbon Hub’s view on how to close the Performance Gap, results of the GHA’s extensive monitoring studies and some insight into what people are doing to address this perennial issue.
