Learn how to Build a Strawbale Passivhaus

Location: Stowmarket, Suffolk	Cost: £325 per week. 10% discount if you book both courses £585.

This project is to build a 2 storey, loadbearing straw bale Passivhaus home, in Stowmarket. There will be 2 courses: both will be taught by Straw Works’ very experienced designer, trainer and straw bale builder Kuba Wihan. You will learn essential techniques for building with straw bales: installation, dressing the bales, preparing and using hazel pins, customizing bales and how to build straight, strong walls on the ground floor. Airtightness is essential for a Passivhaus, and you will be taught how to achieve this with straw walls. The floors and roof will already be in place, and you will have the chance to understand this great way of building without a framework!

We will work from 8:45 – 17:00 each day, with breaks for lunch and refreshments.  Vegetarian lunch every day.
