PHA has trained over 700 graduates of the Certified Passive House Designer and Certified Passive HouseTradesperson trainings, graduates who are now providing design, consulting and contracting services on leadinghigh performance projects.
This eight day course of direct contact classroom training is aimed at ALL Building Professionals,including Architects and Mechanical, Civil, Structural and Electrical Engineers, Contractors and Builders. A combination of lectures by leading Passive House experts, group design and calculationexercises, workshops, and training in the Passive House Planning Package design software (PHPP).
Course accreditation
On successfully passing the exam, Participants will receive the internationallyrecognized accreditation as Certified Passive House Consultant / Designer, joining arapidly expanding global community.This training qualifies for 45 structured CPD points.

Module 1:
Define the Passive House Standard & Outline the principles of designing Passive House buildingsCalculate energy balance of PH buildings considering transmission & ventilation losses & solar & internal heat gainsSpecify the performance characteristics of opaque envelope detailing, insulation, airtightness & thermal bridgingSpecify Passive House window systems, including performance assessment and fitting detailsSummarize the fundamentals of thermal comfort during the summer.
Module 2:
Outline key indoor air quality issues assured in Passive House buildingsUnderstand mechanical ventilation with heat or energy recovery including system design, detailing, sizing & layoutDescribe space heating, cooling, dehumidification & hot water generation and distribution options for PH buildingsComplete the basics of economic efficiency calculation and profitability of deep retrofit measuresSuccessfully complete exam style exercises, designs and multiple-choice challengesLearn the Fundamentals of the design software Passive House Planning Package.
