PHT/AECB Norfolk PedalHaus Tour
Date: 20 September 2014 | Time: All day |
Location: Norfolk | Cost: Free |
The PedalHaus Tours are the brainchild of Paul Mallion, PHT member and founder of Conker Conservation. What better way to visit some Passivhaus projects & eco architecture than by bicycle! Following the success of the annual AECB PedalHaus Tour in Kent, there has been a growing demand for PedalHaus events throughout the UK with various cycle tours planned aound the country.
The 2014 UK Passivhaus Awards saw a number of entries from Norfolk and the Trust will celebrate this by organising a cycle tour to visit a successful Passivhaus project and the surrounding Norfolk countryside. The Trust can now confirm that the tour will include a visit to the 2014 UK Passivhaus Award award winning Burnham Overy Staithe housing project. Designed by Parsons + Whittley Architects for Hastoe Housing Association, the homes have been designed to reflect the local vernacular of traditional fisherman's cottages.
Route:
The cycle tour will start and finish at Sheringham, a seaside town on the North Norfolk coast easily accessible by train from Norwich.
The route is likely to follow the path of the Norfolk Cycle Way and coastal road between Sheringham and Burnham Overy Staithe with stop-offs at a number of interesting sights for breaks and refreshments. Please note, due to the rural location of the site the cycle route is expected to be around 40 miles, although the journey is expected to be fairly flat with few hills involved!
