AECB Annual Conference 2015

This year’s AECB conference will be held on 19 - 20 June at The Edge, University of Sheffield. A lively programme is being developed with the School of Architecture and features workshop sessions from a number of experts in the UK Passivhaus industry.

The conference will see the launch of the AECB’s CarbonLite Retrofit Programme, which has been developed over the last two years. The web based course concentrates on developing a good understanding of issues related to heat and moisture in buildings to help retrofitters avoid and/or manage any unintended consequences arising from the repair, insulation, draught proofing and ventilation of existing UK buildings, particularly older properties with solid or cavity masonry walls.



Speakers for two-day conference include:

  • Prof Irena Bauman – Adaptation for climate change – Case study retrofit/ POE/ Usability at a community/neighbourhood level
  • Alan Clarke – MVHR & ventilation monitoring
  • Nick Grant – Value engineering, What’s not to love
  • Mischa Hewitt – Community based retrofit in Brighton
  • Paul Jennings and Helen Brown – Wilmcote House EnerPhit
  • Tim Martel – Omnisense moisture monitoring
  • Mark Siddall – People are the best measuring instruments.
  • Andy Simmonds and Peter Warm – AECB CarbonLite Retrofit Programme
  • Professor Fionn Stevenson – Usability in housing and the need for collective rather than individual learning tools

Tickets can be purchased for one or two days. An early bird rate for AECB members is available until 22 May. 

Accommodation is available within the University Halls of Residence for £38 per person per night plus VAT on a B&B basis.
