PedalHaus tours are cycling tours for cyclists with an interest in eco architecture.

Pedalhaus Tour

The Huddersfield Pedalhaus tour is scheduled for Sunday 21st June 2015 (the day after the AECB conference in Sheffield). The tour will start from Denby Dale train station and end near Slaithwaite and Huddersfield train stations and will include visits to a number of Passivhaus projects & retrofits in the area. The route comprises a 15 mile cycle over hilly terrain, starting at Denby Dale and ending in Golcar.

Please note:

  • Timings are approximate and the itinary is subject to change. Please register to ensure you are informed of any changes
  • Pedalhaus partipants can join at various points throughout the day and can join for all or part of the day. For example visitors can join for the visit to Cumberworth retrofit only and then return to Denby Dale train station.
  • Trains from nearby Slaithwaite station run to Huddersfield at: 16.49/ 17.50/ 18.50
  • It is possible to get a train back to Denby Dale via Huddersfield. There are also good connections from Huddersfield to Leeds & Manchester.
  • Train companies have varying policies regarding taking bikes on trains.
  • The rides are on public roads (some busy A roads) and participants must exercise sound, mature judgment, being responsible for their own and others’ safety.  Cyclists are reminded to carry out manoeuvres safely and to adhere to the rules of the road.
  • Participants with 4 wheels would also be welcome to join the various stages of the tour. We are hoping for a lot of cyclists on what should be a very scenic and beautiful route, interspersed with a selection of interesting and pioneering  Passivhaus and retrofit projects,
  • Non-cycling participants are also welcome.


Please contact Green Building Store (contact details below) if you are having logistical problems they may be able to help with lifts in the Pedalhaus support vehicle! 

You will need to bring:

- a bike, in good working order
- spare inner tube and pump
- suitable clothing including a helmet
- some snacks & water
- money for refreshments
