IEDELearn Lecture: 'Energy Efficiency at home - Whats the hold up?'

Date: 11 November 2015 Time: 17:30 - 20:00
Location: G01, Central House, UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering UCL Home Cost: Free

The UK has some of the least energy-efficient housing in Europe, energy bills are on the rise and there is an urgent need to reduce our national carbon emissions to address climate change. Improving the energy efficiency of our homes should, therefore, be a no-brainer. So why are we struggling to build momentum in seizing this opportunity? This talk examines some of the key barriers to uptake of domestic energy efficiency (and renewable energy) measures in the UK, including psychological, political and technical obstacles, and explores some of the potential ways that we could overcome them. The key speaker at the event will be Sebastian Junemann.

Speaker Biography:

Seb is a freelance research consultant with a background in socio-technical energy research projects. He previously led the Energy and Environment team at the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), working on the national evaluation of the Renewable Heat Incentive for DECC.

The talk will be followed by a networking wine reception.
