Passive House Academy (PHA) is one of the leading training providers globally in Passive House, offering a wide range of internationally accredited programs on both sides of the Atlantic. PHA has trained over 700 graduates of the Certified Passive House Designer and Certified Passive House Tradesperson courses, who are now providing design, consulting and contracting services on leading high performance projects.
Target Participants
This course is aimed at building contractors working on building envelopes as well as designers and consultants looking to learn the practical skills required for building to the Passive House standard.
Duration
Two days of direct contact classroom and hands-on workshop training, from 8.30am to 5.00pm plus optional 3 days-equivalent distance learning module that participants complete from home or office in their own time and at their own pace. This allows participants to fully prepare for the optional exam at the correct pace for them individually and reduces costs for travel / accommodation as well as lost time from the office or site.
Format
Combination of classroom lectures and presentations (about 50% of course) as well as practical work and experience in the Passive House building.
The optional 3-days equivalent on-line material is accompanied by assistance from our staff. The on-line material is fully geared towards assisting the study process to pass the PHI exam. PHA staff will remotely assist and monitor progress of all students through the on-line material and only those that have satisfactorily completed the assessments will be allowed to sit the exam.
Training Materials
High quality colour training manuals are provided at course commencement. Access will also be provided to the optional on-line learning platform, including oodles of interactive test-preparation materials.
Class Size
Class size is typically between 10 and 14 persons.
Optional Exam
The CPHCT-BE exam is set by the International Passive House Institute and takes place all round the world on pre-determined dates per year. We aim to schedule our training to allow sufficient study time between course completion and the exam dates.
Course Accreditation
On successfully passing the exam, participants will receive the internationally recognized accreditation as 'Certified Passive House Tradesperson - Building Envelope Specialist', joining a rapidly expanding global community.

- On-line exam preparation: €299 (VAT exempt)
- Optional exam fee: €200 (also VAT exempt) including 5 year listing on the international PHI database
Note: taking the exam is optional but is required to gain the 'Certified Passive House Tradesperson' accreditation. The on-line material must be completed if you decide to sit the exam.
