Passive House Academy (PHA) is one of the leading training providers globally in Passive House, offering a wide range of internationally accredited programs on both sides of the Atlantic. PHA has trained over 700 graduates of the Certified Passive House Designer and Certified Passive House Tradesperson courses, who are now providing design, consulting and contracting services on leading high performance projects.
This course is aimed at all Building Professionals, including Architects and Mechanical, Civil, Structural and Electrical Engineers, Contractors and Builders.
Duration:
Five days of direct contact classroom training, from 8.30am to 5.00pm plus 3 days-equivalent distance learning module that participants complete from home or office in their own time and at their own pace. This allows participants to fully prepare for the exam at the correct pace for them individually and reduces costs for travel / accommodation as well as lost time from the office.
The five days in-class is typically split into 2 sessions as detailed below.
Format:
Combination of lectures by leading Passive House experts, group design and calculation exercises and workshops. The programme is structured into five days in-classroom, with 3-days equivalent on-line using the Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle with tech assistance from our staff. The on-line material is fully geared towards assisting the study process to pass the PHI examination. PHA staff will remotely assist and monitor progress of all students through the on-line material and only those that have satisfactorily completed the assessments will be allowed to sit the exam.
PHPP Software:
As part of this program, 1 day will be dedicated to hands-on introductory training in the use of the PHPP software (Passive House Planning Package). Furthermore, throughout the course the trainers will demonstrate key elements of the software as it pertains to energy balancing of Passive House projects. For those that wish to gain a full working knowledge of the software, PHA delivers a separate 3-day PHPP course which is best taken on completion of the Certified Passive House Consultant / Designer program.
Training Materials:
High quality colour training manuals are provided at course commencement. Access will also be provided to our on-line learning platform, including oodles of interactive test-preparation materials.
Class size:
Class size is typically between 10 and 20 persons.
CPHCD Exam:
The CPHCD exam is set by the International Passive House Institute and takes place all round the world on four pre-determined dates per year. We aim to schedule our training to allow sufficient study time between course completion and the exam dates.
Course Accreditation:
On successfully passing the exam, participants will receive the internationally recognized accreditation as Certified Passive House Consultant / Designer, joining a rapidly expanding global community.
This course is also accredited by the RIAI and is worth 45 CPD Points.
