Sutton secondary school - render

The new secondary school in London Borough of Sutton is set to be the largest secondary school built to the Passivhaus standard in the UK. Due to open in 2019, the project will cost £36m and form a part of the London Cancer Hub, where there will be both research and treatment activities.

This site visit, jointly organised by the Building Performance Network (BPN) & the Passivhaus Trust, offers an opportunity to hear from PHT Patron members Willmott Dixon (construction), WARM (Passivhaus certification) and Architype (the architects of the scheme), as well as a tour of the project.

Topics

  • how the school and its Passivhaus design form a part of Sutton's masterplan for the former Sutton Hospital site and wider ambitions of the London borough
  • building performance lessons learned by the team elsewhere and applied here
  • building performance testing undertaken and planned for the building

Who should attend

  • architects, engineers, designers with an interest in building performance evaluation
  • clients, including local authorities, and anyone else considering Passivhaus and/or building performance evaluation for their project
