Passive House Academy (PHA) is one of the leading Passivhaus training providers int the world, offering a wide range of internationally accredited programmes on both sides of the Atlantic. PHA has trained over 800 graduates of the Certified Passive House Designer, Certified Passive House Tradesperson and PHPP Training, graduates who are now providing design, consulting and contracting services on leading high performance projects.
This course is aimed at all building professionals, including architects and mechanical, civil, structural and electrical engineers, contractors and builders.
Duration:
Five days of direct contact classroom training, from 8.30am to 5.00pm plus 3 days equivalent e-learning that participants complete in their own time and at their own pace.
The five days in-class are typically split into 2 sessions, as detailed below.
Format:
A combination of lectures by leading Passivhaus experts, group design and calculation exercises and workshops. The programme is structured into five days in-classroom, with the equivalent of 3 days online using the Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle with tech assistance from PHA staff. The online material is fully geared towards assisting the study process to pass the PHI examination. PHA staff will remotely assist and monitor progress of all students through the online material and only those that have satisfactorily completed the assessments will be allowed to sit the exam.
Passive House Energy Balancing Software:
As part of this programme, 1 day will be dedicated to hands-on introductory training in the use of the PHPP software (Passive House Planning Package). Key tips and tricks in the use of DEAP (Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure) in meeting NZEB will also be covered.
International Accreditation:
On successfully passing the exam, set by Passive House Institute, participants will receive the internationally recognised accreditation of Certified Passive House Designer/Consultant, joining a rapidly expanding global community.
This course is also accredited by the RIAI and is worth 45 CPD points.
Training costs:
There are three cost elements to this programme, as follows (All VAT exempt):
- Course Fee = €1,200 and includes training manuals and coffee breaks
- Optional Exam Fee =€350, including international accreditation and listing for 5 years by Passive House Institute. 95% of attendees elect to sit the exam.
- Optional Passivhaus software (PHPP Version 9) = €150 - this is a requirement, if you wish to take the exam.
Class size:
Class size is typically between 10 and 20 persons.
