This online learning course from the Passive House Institute will give you a clear overview of the Passivhaus standard, certification requirements and the various elements to consider when designing and constructing Passivhaus buildings. It will start to prepare you for the international Certified Passive House Designer exam, or help you to better follow a PHPP/designPH workshop.
Each course subunit includes a short video presentation, followed by further material and a short quiz that you can take several times. If you pass the final exam, you will receive a certificate of attendance.
The course includes 3 hours of video, further material and 200+ questions, and takes approximately 20 hours to complete.
Topics
Passivhaus Principles (What is a Passivhaus, Passivhaus and NZEB, economics)
Basics: Heat and humidity (Heat and humidity basics, water vapour in the building)
Building Envelope:
- Opaque elements (Continuous insulation layer, insulation materials)
- Transparent elements (Passivhaus windows and installation)
- Thermal bridging
- Airtightness (Airtightness importance, implementation and testing basics)
Building services:
- Ventilation (Why ventilate, ventilation concepts and MVHR anatomy)
- Heating and DHW (Heat supply, storage and distribution, DHW)
- Cooling
PHPP (Energy balancing with PHPP, renewables, PER and classes)
