Passivhaus Contractor Training (AECB CarbonLite)

Date: 3-4 November + 14 November Time: Two consecutive days training + one optional day for revision and exam
Location: Online Cost: £225+VAT for PHT members, £250+VAT for non-members. £375+VAT optional revision and exam.

This course will be delivered through online webinar, and will not include practical elements or the exam. Dates for these will be released later in the year. The intention is to address the huge appetite among contractors for this kind of training without compromising on quality. AECB CarbonLiteA unique 2-day course tailored to all contractors and builders who are involved in any level of low-energy building construction. The course centres on core Passivhaus (fabric-first) building techniques that are suitable for every level of new build and renovation project, and includes both theoretical & practical sessions.

In addition, there are optional revision & exam sessions available for those wanting to become qualified as a Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson, which is one of the highest international quality marks available to demonstrate competence in the field of low-energy construction.

The course is managed on behalf of CarbonLite trainers and the AECB by WARM Low Energy Building Practice.

 

Passivhaus Contractor Training

Centred around the core building techniques you need to achieve the pioneering Passivhaus standards, the course covers all the essential aspects of low-energy construction, including what it means practically when implemented on site.

The course covers the following areas:

  • Energy standards and Passivhaus principles
  • Fundamental aspects for achieving Passivhaus, including insulation, high-performance glazing, airtightness, thermal bridging and ventilation
  • How to ensure quality is delivered on site

Hands-on sessions are site specific and will typically include the following:

  • Insulation – looking at insulation types, installing insulation (wood fibre) to avoid thermal bypass
  • Airtightness – installing membranes to different substrates with a variety of tapes & adhesives
  • Blower door test – understanding what to look for when a building is tested
  • Practical calculations & exercises on airtightness and thermal bridging

 

Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson Revision Session & Exam

Certified Passivhaus TradespersonFor those wanting to gain the prestigious qualification of Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson, there is also the option to attend a half-day revision session, followed on the same day by an exam. 

The revision session will prepare you for taking the Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson Exam and gaining this internationally-recognised qualification. Those who qualify can use the Passivhaus Tradesperson logo and will be registered on the global database for the next 5 years.

Please note: completing this course does not qualify participants for Certified European Passivhaus (CEPH) Designer status. If you wish to become a CEPH Designer, please take our Passivhaus Designer Course.
