AECB Carbonlite Passivhaus Bitesize Training

Now online

The same high quality training is now delivered to you in the comfort of your own home.

These bitesize modules offer insight into all the main principles of the Passivhaus Standard and what makes a good low energy, comfortable building.

The trainers are experts who are successfully designing, building and advancing Passivhaus in UK - among others, Bill Butcher, Alan Clarke, Sally Godber, Nick Grant, John Palmer, Eric Parks, Mark Siddall, and Passivhaus Certifiers Will South, Mike Roe and Peter Warm.

These sessions are being run in conjunction with the Passivhaus Trust and The Green Register, and are managed by PHT Patron WARM on behalf of the trainers.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed principally at building professionals in the UK:  Architects, Builders, Structural and Services Engineers, Quantity surveyors and Potential Clients – all can learn how to deliver real low energy buildings. It introduces the principles behind the Passivhaus standard and for achieving low energy performance. Unlike the full Passivhaus Designer course and exam, these sessions do not require calculations, but show the principles behind the standard so that every member of the design team can understand what the Passivhaus Designer on the team is doing.

Each live online session runs from 13:30 - 17:30.

1 October – Fundamentals

Introduction, including overview of construction, airtightness, thermal bridging, and extra services requirements. Also touch on design to avoid overheating.

8 October – Construction

Detail workshops: construction of junctions and material samples, airtightness exercise.

15 October – Building Services

Services for building designers. What they all mean. Space requirements. Layout requirements. Simple service strategy and considerations.

22 October – Putting Passivhaus into Practice

Bring your own project, workshop and crit. session. Listen in to each other’s projects and to the practical development advice given by experienced practitioners.
