World leaders are gathering in Glasgow for COP26. Globally, buildings consume over a third of the energy produced and are responsible for 40% of global energy-related carbon emissions – the construction industry has a massive role in reducing this. Our buildings must go through a radical change to meet Net Zero targets and mitigate the worst of the Climate Crisis – but how? Improved efficiency is critical. It is far more cost-effective to save energy than to generate it. Passivhaus is a tried and tested solution to slashing energy demand AND ensuring healthy, comfortable indoor environments.
The recent IPCC report once again reinforced the urgent need for immediate action on mitigating the Climate Crisis. The world will soon look upon Glasgow and the UK for COP26. We intend to use this opportunity to promote the tools already available in our Climate toolkit to address this emergency. Passivhaus gives us a range of proven approaches to deliver net-zero-ready new and existing buildings optimised for a decarbonised grid and augmented for occupant health and wellbeing. This is no time to reinvent the wheel - the tools we need to deliver on our climate pledges exist today, so let's get to work!
