Paper Igloo Ltd

We are a small flexible team currently based in Glasgow who believe that fantastic architecture should permeate every aspect of your daily life. We aim to create site-specific high quality design solutions at any scale – the spaces in which we all live and work should be sensory, exciting, inspiring, imaginative and fun. Our experience includes time spent working on site so we have a practical understanding of construction, which we believe will give you a more thorough and thoughtful solution. We are building a strong commitment to low-energy design, and one of our directors is a certified Passivhaus Designer.

Partel is renowned as a leading developer and supplier of high-performance building envelope solutions and materials for the low-energy building sector. The company has Irish roots and a global presence within Ireland, the UK, North America, and mainland Europe. Technical excellence is at the core of their product development, providing an integrated range of Airtight and Windtight Systems, Thermal Bridging Solutions, and Ventilation Systems that significantly improve the energy-efficiency in both residential and commercial construction. These include monolithic breathable membranes, solvent-free adhesive tapes, adhesives and sealants, recycled structural insulation, and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. They are committed to innovating in smart, sustainable building components that lead to intelligent energy consumption, building longevity, and quality of life.

Providing low energy solutions – creating energy efficient buildings – we strive to inspire efficiency in every aspect of work we do. Whether constructing complete Passivhaus timber frame buildings, renovating or crafting smaller extensions, we will ensure that we deliver only the highest levels of comfort and energy efficiency. Our attention to detail doesn’t stop at how the house performs, it carries through all aspects of our work.

Paul Heat Recovery Scotland

Being actively involved at the start of Passivhaus in Scotland from 2010, we have focused on its specialised ventilation technology, partnering with PAUL, one of the first and foremost German MVHR manufacturers. As such, the University of Strathclyde invited us to provide practical training in MVHR for the CEPH course. Our no-compromise approach in terms of equipment, ducting and installation, with emphasis on customer service and sound advice has lead us into a different direction than most competitors. Foreseeing the future of demand controlled ventilation, we have recently added Cascade Ventilation Systems with minimal ductwork for smaller dwellings

PD Consulting

PDP London

PDP London is a 120 strong London and Hong Kong based international practice, known primarily for our skilful integration of contemporary architecture within historic environments. We work across a variety of sectors, primarily existing and new residential but also extra-care, commercial, civic and mixed used developments. Our projects are developed with sound environmental principles and sustainability in mind from the very start. We focus on a Fabric First approach to building design, maximising the performance of the components and materials that form the building fabric, before considering the use of active services. This approach can reduce capital and operational costs, improving the energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

Pen Y Coed Construction & Insulation

From Passive House design and construction to high quality joinery finishes, we pride ourselves in creating beautiful and sustainable buildings. With over 25 years' experience, we prioritise a 'Fabric First' approach that starts at the design stage, using materials and products that maximise the performance and energy efficiency of the building. Our timber frame houses begin life in our factory in Wales as fully engineered, insulated and air-tight closed panels. The panelised units are then transported to site where a weather protected structure can be assembled in a few days. The materials in our build systems are predominantly timber based and procured locally where possible. By using Warmcel cellulose fibre insulation along with timber and woodfibre lining boards, timber I-beams, timber windows, and timber cladding, carbon is locked-in to create a sustainable building that is healthy, comfortable and enjoyable to live in. Warmcel has also been awarded a Nature Plus Certificate. Full technical information is available on our website: and

Perth and Kinross Council

Along with other local authorities, Perth and Kinross Council have a duty to commit to reducing energy use and carbon emissions by ensuring that new builds are as energy efficient as possible, and that our existing building stock is optimised in terms of energy use. We believe the Passivhaus standard is a key industry standard for delivering high quality, low energy buildings. We currently have several Passivhaus projects in different stages of development, including new primary and secondary schools. Our staff have been undergoing various levels of Passivhaus training, with some members now trained as Passivhaus Designers. We look forward to further developing our knowledge and experience of Passivhaus and EnerPHit as our projects begin to come to fruition.

phi Architects

Greater Manchester and Ripon

The Phi group reflects a design philosophy of “smart" architecture, sustainable and environmentally responsible design. Architects and Certified Passivhaus Designers, Claire Jamieson and Sara Darwin work in the Yorkshire and greater Manchester regions respectively, sharing knowledge for best practice details, construction and Passivhaus modelling. Sara specialises in modern residential architecture, from extensions and low carbon retrofits to Passivhaus new build dwellings. Sustainable design excellence is always the priority; a fabric first approach is inherent to phi architects’ philosophy and where possible the Passivhaus standard is set as the benchmark. Claire works as a Passivhaus design consultant, preparing PHPP, advising on practical solutions both “on-site” and through the design phases. Having recently completed her own self build EnerPhit Passivhaus she is keen to share her knowledge and practical application through all types of renovation and new build work as a specialist in the professional team. Claire also lectures on her work, writes Passivhaus articles, and is a member of the Yorkshire Design Review Panel.
