Hastoe Housing Association

Hampton Wick, Surrey

Hastoe is an independent registered housing association that owns and manages over 7,500 homes of mixed tenure, including affordable rent and shared ownership. As the UK’s leading rural housing provider, it supports communities in 70 local authority areas across the south of England; from Cornwall to Norfolk. Its roots are in innovation and this has led to specialisms in rural communities and in climate protection. By 2019, Hastoe had delivered 12 Passivhaus schemes including the UK’s first rural affordable Passivhaus scheme at Wimbish in Essex. This scheme continues to provide useful insights into Passivhaus developments in the UK.

Exeter City Council


Exeter City Council has championed the Passivhaus standard over the last 10 years delivering over 100 Passivhaus affordable homes across the city to date. The City Council is currently constructing the UK’s first certified leisure centre and Extra Care Home village with completion scheduled later in 2020. The City Council also has its own private development company, Exeter City Living Ltd which has a pipeline of Passivhaus developments many of which are open market homes. Exeter City Living’s approach to development encompasses a triple-bottom line business principle, ensuring all new developments are Passivhaus, healthy, climate resilient to 2080 and offer value for money. The Council has accumulated substantial knowledge and experience of Passivhaus over the last decade and has a dedicated team of Officers and consultants who can be utilized on a consultancy basis to assist other Local Authorities or private entities with their Passivhaus ambitions


WARM: Low Energy Building Practice


Warm is an independent consultancy with the theoretical and practical understanding to bring pioneering low energy buildings from design to reality. WARM was set up in 2009 by father and daughter, Peter Warm and Sally Godber, with the aim of creating buildings with real energy savings. All our full-time staff are Certified Passivhaus Designers and our group includes chartered engineers & architectural technologists. Whilst there are only 8 of us our reach is significant in the Passivhaus World: WARM are the most prolific Passivhaus consultants and Certifiers in the UK, and winners of the 2019 CIBSE Award for Building Consultancy up to 100 employees as well as Passivhaus Designers of the UK’s best new building, winner of the RIBA Stirling prize 2019. Most Passivhaus projects in the UK have been either one-off self builds or low-rise estates for social housing, but we have been involved in nearly every Passivhaus school in the UK and the largest Passivhaus building. We also provide building services design, training, monitoring and anything else for low energy buildings that will improve the built environment. We strongly believe in disseminating information and manage the very successful Carbonlite training programme for designers and contractors as well as bespoke courses for clients.


ICF Supplies Ltd


ICF supplies was founded in 2012 by our managing director, who at the time ran an architectural practice. He was so impressed by the Nudura system, along with the thermal performances achieved, that he became a distributor. Working out of our Basildon headquarters we have quickly grown to be the largest supplier of insulated concrete forms (ICF) in the country. Being inherently airtight, our system makes this aspect of the build much more straightforward to achieve and with the concrete core as the structural element, once achieved this will not be lost through building movement over time. We have a comprehensive range of PHPP Psi value certificates. The heart of the Nudura design is providing very thermally efficient housing by means of very effective insulation encapsulating the thermal mass. We not only supply Nudura ICF but crucially provide training and hands on practical assistance on site to ensure that our products are used correctly and appropriately throughout the process.

ATTMA, the Air Tightness Testing and Measurement Association are best known for running Competent Person Schemes across the UK, Spain, Australia and Dubai. The ATTMA provides assurance of quality by requiring members to be trained, insured and audited on a regular basis. The ATTMA also provides guidance to key industry stakeholders around the world and holds the largest database of test results and data in the world, collecting information from approximately 14,000 tests each month. ATTMA are pleased to offer training and quality assurance for testing to Passivhaus standards.
