Bushbury Hill Primary School wins RIBA Regional Sustainability Awards
Bushbury Primary School, one of the first certified Passivhaus schools by Architype has won the RIBA Regional Sustainability Award. The RIBA West Midlands Awards Ceremony 2012 took place at the Athena in Leicester on 20 June 2012.
RIBA comments:
'With real mastery of scale and volume, a richness has emerged within this primary school from the separation of the two principal volumes, creating a central atrium.
All credit to the design team that the Passivhaus accreditation was achieved and not at the expense of the user’s experience. The orientation of the building enables it to benefit from appropriate solar control and passive gains. Care has been taken to ensure natural light reaches all classroom and corridor areas.
Unfussy, flawless detailing, this is a daringly ascetic building.'
