Cameron Close and Turners Hill Road secure planning approval

PCKO Architects have been granted planning approval for two large Passivhaus rural housing schemes on the Isle of Wight and Sussex.

Cameron Close in Freshwater, West Wight is a 1.5 acre site providing 100% affordable units for Southern Housing Group consisting of:
  • 16 houses
  • 12 sheltered apartments
  • Supplementary funding was provided by Isle of Wight council to achieve Passivhaus standard, as part of their goal to become the most sustainable local authority in the UK by 2020.

Turners Hill Road in Crawley Down, Mid Sussex  for Hastoe Housing Association will provide
  • 26 'affordable homes' designed to Passivhaus standard, giving residents who have been priced out of the local housing market the ability to remain within their communities.
  • 1-2 storey homes are arranged in clusters within semi-private courtyards.
  • Brick is used as the predominant material to complement the architectural vernacular of West Sussex, rather than the common Passivhaus sterotype of render.
