Potential EnerPHit tower refurb in Portsmouth
Portsmouth City Council are seeking Architects and construction consultants to help them deliver an EnerPHit refurbishment of two 1966 pre-cast concrete residential blocks named Somerstown Towers.
With a budget of up to £12 million for the project, ambitious construction professionals can propose an EnerPHit solution to improve thermal performance, reduce heat loss via a 'building fabric first' approach and provide better living environments.

Current Towers
- 51 metre tall towers.
- 1966 pre-cast concrete panel construction.
- Electric night storage heating in individual apartments.
- No gas supply.
- A community heating system is not being considered.
The winning team will:
- Recommend solutions to extend the towers’ life expectancy by approximately 30 years.
- Conduct consultations with residents.
- Prepare a number of feasibility options and detailed designs for the chosen solution.
- Recieve an estimated value for the consultancy services contract, which is the subject of this procurement exercise, of between £500,000 - £600,000.

A prequalification questionnaire is available on the Council's website.
The Council is aiming to award the consultancy services contract by 5th February 2015 in order to allow for service commencement by 2nd March 2015.
Target commencement of refurbishment works is 17th October 2016.
The project is planned to complete in June 2018.
