Local networking kicks off in Wales

To propel the social housing Welsh Pattern Book momentum and a growing local appetite for Passivhaus, the Trust (with the AECB) launched a new local group for South and West Wales at the Cardiff Metropolitan University.

PHT & AECB Local Group: South & West Wales Launch

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of over 30 attendees from a wide range of disciplines — architects, engineers, suppliers, product designers, clients, graduates, and lecturers — all coming together with a shared passion for sustainable design.

Guests enjoyed insightful talks from the AECB, the Passivhaus Trust, Spring Design and Stride Treglown, who shared the inspiring story behind the Tai ar y Cyd housing project — a groundbreaking collaboration between social landlords, government, and industry experts aimed at tackling Wales’ housing challenges through innovative, sustainable solutions.

The afternoon was opened by Debbie Savage, Associate Dean at the Cardiff School of Art and Design, who expressed her excitement about future collaborations with the group and possible future lecturing opportunities.

Attendees were also able to collect two PHI credit points, with one delighted participant celebrating the milestone of reaching the 100-point threshold for CEPH renewal. The event’s official programme may have run over time - but only because the lively networking continued long after, eventually spilling into a nearby pub!

A huge thank you to Jonathan Davies of Spring Design for organising such a fantastic event. Plans are already underway for the next gathering in September and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
