The International Passive House conference is organised by the Passivhaus Institute and takes place over two days. It includes an exhibition area of Passivhaus products and is followed by a day of excursions to Passivhaus projects.
The International Passive House Conference is open to newcomers and experienced Passive House experts alike. The venue and theme is different each year. Last year saw over 1100 conference participants from 44 countries attending the conference in Dresden, Germany.
The 15th International Passive House Conference is being organised by the Passive House Institute, the Austrian State of Tyrol and the University of Innsbruck.
For 2011, the main focus is of a regional nature - Think globally, act locally
"Naturally, climatic conditions and architectural traditions differ between regions. There is no clearly defined solution for all locations nor does the Passive House Standard claim to provide such a solution. Instead, the Passive House Standard provides the means for designing buildings most suited to their respective climatic, architectural and cultural conditions. This places high demands on the architects and engineers while encouraging regional diversity and opening up opportunities for property developers, manufacturers and craftsmen.
The creative solutions developed in various regions motivate others while bringing added value for all. In this light, the Conference offers a unique and vital forum for exchange."
-Dr. Wolfgang Feist
