Climate Emergency: is Passivhaus the answer?
Hundreds of organisations declared a climate emergency during 2019, and many will need to adopt net zero carbon policies for the buildings they design, own, operate, rent, build, or manage. Passivhaus is one way of moving towards such targets, but currently accounts for less than 1% of all new-build projects in the UK, even in the housing sector.
This debate will therefore examine whether Passivhaus is the answer to the Climate Emergency for new buildings. Is it the right standard or is it too difficult? Can it be scaled up or will it remain a niche offer? Is it too expensive or will everyone have to pay more to achieve zero carbon anyway?
The Passivhaus Trust's annual new year debate returns on the 30th January 2020, hosted by London South Bank University and organised by the Passivhaus Trust and London Energy Transformation Initiative. All PHT & LETI members are invited to join us in the new year for informal drinks & networking. This is a great way to catch up with Passivhaus peers and discuss upcoming plans for the year.
