Carbonlite Passivhaus Designer Training
Date: 12th November 2012 | Time: Various |
Location: Bristol | Cost: £1999 + VAT; Discounts for PHT members |
AECB CarbonLite, in association with WARM Low Energy Building Practice, offers a Passive House Designer programme specifically for the UK. The course will run in Bristol. This is a great opportunity for those in the South West to have training in a venue near them and training at GBS will mean delegates will be able to get first hand experience of Passivhaus Windows, Doors, MVHR’s, airtightness materials and other Passivhaus certified products in their workshops.
This is an internationally accredited course which is delivered over 2 non-consecutive weeks (Week 1: 12th-16th November. Week 2: 26th-30th November), and ends with a 3 hour exam on the 7th December. On successful completion of the exam, delegates will be awarded either Passivhaus Designer or Passivhaus Consultant status, depending on existing academic qualifications.
The course is delivered by UK professionals with Passivhaus experience. The full programme can be taken as an intensive course, or spread out as individual modules to suit your needs. The courses are delivered on a regular basis with small groups.
The trainers will be Eric Parks, Bill Butcher, Mark Siddall, Nick Grant and Peter Warm – all Passivhaus Designers apart from Peter who is a Certifier. Bill Butcher is a director of Green Building Store and Green Building Company and project leader of the Denby Dale Passivhaus project. Originally trained as a quantity surveyor, he has over 35 years’ building experience, including construction of the Longwood low-energy house in the early 1990s. Mark Siddall is an architect and lecturer at the University of Northumbria. His design of 25 Passivhauses at Racecourse estate Sunderland is one of the largest Passivhaus developments in the UK and is now built. Nick Grant and Andrew Farr will be teaching the services, both have abundant experience in large UK projects. Eric Parks has been involved with many Passivhaus and sustainability projects in the US and UK.
This course is aimed at Architects, Builders, Building Engineers and others who are new to low energy buildings and the use of the Passivhaus standard. It introduces the principles behind the Passivhaus standard and methodologies for a variety of building types and the use of the Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) for achieving low energy performance.
