400+ Passivhaus push for Newham Council Housing
An ambitious housing programme for Newham Council sees a commitment to building all new council homes to the Passivhaus Classic standard, where possible. As part of its Climate Emergency Action Plan, Newham has committed to building all its new council homes to the Passivhaus Classic standard, with the option of reverting to the PHI Low Energy Building standard for constrained sites if necessary. Over 400 Passivhaus or PHI Low Energy Building standard projects are currently underway for Newham Council.
Ensure that new build council homes target Passivhaus ‘classic’ standard, with minimum ‘Low Energy Building’ standard certification, as independently certified by the Passive House Institute, with the ability to reduce to the Passive House Institutes ‘Low Energy Building’ standard for constrained sites if necessary. As Mayor, my mission is to champion people’s needs and I have made it my top priority to make sure that Newham Council does all that it can to provide local people with the homes they deserve.
