PHT tutorial: DesignPH review

The Trust held its first tutorial on new software DesignPH, a sketchup plug-in providing a 3D interface to PHPP (Passive House Planning Package) developed by the Passivhaus Institute.

The Trusts new tutorial events are aimed for entry level participants who are unfamiliar with the software or topic and require the basics before gaining experience. 

The designPH sketch-up plug-in provides automatic analysis that can provide quick Passivhaus outputs which can be downloaded directly into PHPP using the 3D sketch-up model. This simplifies data entry into PHPP with a more visual & intuitive process, and provides preliminary feedback on the performance of the design within SketchUp. More information can be found on the official designPH website.

Dave Edwards, author of DesignPH software, demonstrated the 3D plugin for PHPP, and showed participants how to upload projects, adjust & update detailed designs, and how to transfer outputs in PHPP.
