Parsons + Whittley win planning for 11 Passivhaus homes in Mattishall

A residential Passivhaus scheme for 11 dwellings on an edge of village brownfield site in Mattishall mid-Norfolk, gained planning consent from Breckland Council against officer’s recommendation (August 2014).

The landowners were keen to adopt Passivhaus principles right from the start. The orientation of the site allows for substantial south facing elevations to the majority of the dwellings to take advantage of passive solar gain with large roof overhangs and green oak pergolas providing the shading strategy.

Negotiations are currently underway to develop the proposal as a joint venture to develop one of the first “open market” schemes in the country. The homes range from 1-4 bed properties with a traditional appearance.
