EuroPHit Regional Workshop
On the 16th September 2014, the BRE held a workshop: Financing Energy Efficient Retrofits. The workshop was held to explore the barriers, opportunities and potential solutions to financing deep retrofits at scale; it forms part of the EuroPHit project, an EU project exploring the viability of step-by-step retrofits to the EnerPHit standard. As well as developing technical criteria and guidance, the project involves a number of case study buildings throughout the EU including Wilmcote House in Portsmouth.

Presentations were given by BRE, KfW, RE:NEW, Portsmouth City Council, and RE:FIT. The morning session focused on the domestic retrofit market, with the afternoon session concentrating on the contrasting and overlapping issues surrounding commercial retrofit. Representatives from a number of different sectors attended, including the finance and investment sectors, housing associations and other portfolio managers, and designers.
The outcomes of the discussions will go on to inform the development of the EuroPHit project, with further events planned over the coming months.
