East London self-build Passivhaus certified
Lansdowne Drive is a two-story home located in a Conservation Area in East London that recently received Passivhaus certification. The scheme was designed by PHT member Tectonics Architects with Passivhaus design and consultancy from PHT Patron members Accredited Passivhaus Design.
Self built and managed by Tectonics Architects, a number of specialist contractors and experts in the industry were appointed for each component of the building.

The local authority required the building to be set at half a level down from either street or garden level to keep the profile low and meet conservation requirements. The lower level is in-situ reinforced concrete, whilst the upper floor is a pre-fabricted Cross Laminated Timber structure.
The building consists of an open plan living space on the upper floor, with the entrance and bedrooms at the lower ground level. The building is finished minimally with exposed CLT, pipework and electrics.
