Passivhaus winners at Homebuilding and Renovating Awards

We are delighted to see a flurry of recognition for Passivhaus projects in recent building and architecture awards. The 2017 Homebuilding & Renovation Awards, has a category dedicated to Passivhaus schemes.

Best Passivhaus – Dursley Passivhaus

Dursley Treehouse

Clients: Jon Martin and Noreen Jaafar
Design:
Millar + Howard Workshop

Recently showcased in the Passivhaus Project Gallery, at the 2017 UK Passivhaus Conference, Dursley Treehouse is a beautiful certified Passivhaus.

Sitting between a supermarket and a church in Dursley, this year’s Best Passivhaus winner is not your typical self-build project — the timber-clad, cantilevered structure sits among the treetops some 12m above ground. Designed by Millar + Howard Workshop and built on a DIY basis, the couple has overcome several obstacles to create this imaginative, low-energy home.

Passivhaus (Highly Commended) - Hilltop House

EcoArc Homebuilding and Renovating Awards 2017

Clients: Phil and Yvonne Garnett
Design: Ecoarc and Oakwrights

After knocking down an old 1930s bungalow in Yorkshire, Phil and Yvonne Garnett have gone on to build a unique, high-spec home which has become the first oak frame Passivhaus-certified home in the UK.
