How can EPCs be better?
PHT members are invited to inform our response to BEIS’s EPC consultation, running to the 19th October.
EPCs have been part of the regulatory landscape for the last ten years – they’ve evolved and improved over that time, but are they yet as useful and accurate as they could be?
BEIS is currently running a consultation on improvements to the EPC process, open until 19 October. The Passivhaus Trust is preparing a detailed submission in response to this call for evidence, and we would welcome input from PHT members to inform our recommendations.
In particular, we will be focusing on the following points:
- Fabric first approach
- Focusing on energy rather than emissions
- The performance gap
- SAP suitability
- Interest in NZE (nearly zero energy) targets
We would be delighted to receive any input on these areas or any other points you think may be relevant in considering EPCs in relation to the Passivhaus standard - please email johnp@passivhaustrust.org.uk.
Look out for publication of our consultation response here in due course.
