900+ Passivhaus Masterplan for Hounslow
Plans for building 900+ Passivhaus homes are being developed as part of Hounslow Council masterplan for redeveloping its Convent Way housing estate in Heston.
The Council identified the 1960s estate as no longer suited to modern living, difficult and costly to maintain and difficult to adapt to meet residents’ housing and accessibility needs. Following a consultation, 80% of residents voted in favour of the major estate regeneration that will provide the new homes, generous parks and outdoor space, as well as community facilities.
PHT member QODA Consulting has been chosen as the Passivhaus consultant and M&E Designers, with PHT member Bell Phillips Architects as the lead architects and masterplanners.
Delivering Passivhaus homes set within new parks, streets and well-connected green infrastructure is a significant and challenging aspiration on such a constrained site. The design will foster a high quality of life for residents, create a cohesive and safe community and will be highly sustainable in line with zero carbon policies.
