900+ Passivhaus Masterplan for Hounslow
Plans for building approximately 900 Passivhaus homes are being developed as part of Hounslow Council masterplan for redeveloping its Convent Way housing estate in Heston.
The Council identified the 1960s estate as no longer suited to modern living, difficult and costly to maintain and difficult to adapt to meet residents’ housing and accessibility needs. Following a consultation, 80% of residents voted in favour of the major estate regeneration that will provide the new homes, generous parks and outdoor space, as well as community facilities.
The 900+ homes of the project are aiming for Passivhaus certification. The masterplan for the redevelopment of the Convent Way estate will help set a new urban dwelling standard for the London Borough of Hounslow integrating Passivhaus design, landscaping, sustainable transport, and building quality.
The project is currently at the pre-planning consultation stage and has yet to receive planning permission. PHT member QODA Consulting has been chosen as the Passivhaus consultant and M&E Designers, with Bell Phillips Architects as the lead architects and masterplanners.
The design will foster a high quality of life for residents, create a cohesive and safe community and will be highly sustainable in line with zero carbon policies.
