Every year, the RIBA Regional Awards brings together architects from across the UK to celebrate the best of the best in construction. Entries span across a variety of project sectors and are judged and presented locally, region by region.
As a rigorous and robust Standard for high-performance buildings, Passivhaus provides a reliable route to meeting climate targets in construction. With climate-forward schemes high on the judge's agenda, it has been great to see Passivhaus projects winning in both London and the North-East, recognising exemplary architecture needn't compromise people or the planet.
It is great to see Passivhaus projects across a range of building typologies, winning prizes & gaining design recognition at the RIBA Regional Awards. The Passivhaus winners demonstrate that the Standard can be applied to social housing, educational buildings, and private homes. We need Passivhaus or equivalent methodologies to become the norm to progress towards our climate emergency goals.
