Get retrofit ready!
It's time to lift those floorboards, check those cavities and tackle those leaky lofts - 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Passivhaus retrofit.
Next year, the Passivhaus Trust will be diving deeper into this vital area, offering fresh guidance, resources and opportunities for members and the wider industry to engage. Find out more about our upcoming plans and see how you can get involved.
Advancing Passivhaus retrofit standards with PHI
One of the most exciting projects for 2026 is the development of new Passivhaus retrofit levels. Working closely with the Passive House Institute (PHI), we're creating a clearer and more structured pathway for Passivhaus retrofit projects - building on the component method and supporting a phased approach. Further details will be shared later in the year as this exciting work progresses.
NEW Passivhaus Retrofit Masterclass Series
In January, we'll be introducing our new Passivhaus Retrofit Masterclass 2026 series, running monthly until June. Boost your retrofit skills in six expert-led sessions, packed with case studies, practical tips and technical guidance. Tickets are now available, with the first introductory session FREE for PHT members. Plus, the full 2022 Passivhaus Retrofit lecture series remains accessible on-demand for anyone looking to deepen their knowledge at their own pace.
Updated guidance and resources
Early 2026 will also see the publication of a brand new paper on Passivhaus retrofit costs, providing valuable insights into the financial considerations of delivering high-performance Passivhaus retrofits. In addition, our Passivhaus retrofit paper and primer will be fully updated to ensure practitioners, clients and homeowners have access to the latest thinking and practical advice.
Exclusive to Members: Passivhaus coffee mornings
For those keen to engage more informally, PHT members can join our Passivhaus Coffee Mornings, offering an opportunity to explore the Passivhaus retrofit component method, exchange experiences and learn from peers. Why not start the year right and make joining the Passivhaus Trust your New Year’s resolution to get all the Passivhaus insights, expert tips and discounts you could wish for.
Showcasing member expertise: NEW Lunch + Learn Webinars
In the first quarter of 2026, PHT members will be invited to take part in our new Passivhaus retrofit case study Lunch + Learn Webinars. These sessions aim to provide a platform to showcase your Passivhaus retrofit projects, share valuable lessons learned and inspire fellow practitioners - making it easier than ever to share knowledge and connect with the wider Passivhaus community. Full details will be released in the new year.
Passivhaus retrofit remains one of the most powerful tools we have to tackle the climate emergency - reducing energy demand, improving health and wellbeing and enhancing the performance of existing buildings. By expanding resources and creating new platforms for knowledge-sharing, the Trust is helping to make Passivhaus retrofit more accessible, practical and impactful for everyone. 2026 is set to be a breakthrough year for Passivhaus retrofit, and we look forward to moving ahead as a community.
