The six-part course from the Passivhaus Trust aims to give an understanding of the fundamentals of the Passivhaus standard and how it can help deliver healthy, comfortable buildings as well as achieve pressing net zero targets. The online course has interactive elements, including quizzes to check understanding, and takes approximately 4.5 hours to complete.

The course has been developed by the Passivhaus Trust, in collaboration with WARM.

Format

The short course comprises six 45-minute on demand modules:

Module 1	What is Passivhaus? Module one explores why there is a need for Passivhaus buildings. We'll take a look at factors involved in building a Passivhaus and explode some myths.
Module 2	Operational Net Zero This module's objective is to give an understanding of how Passivhaus buildings are a key component of getting to net zero.
Module 3	Passivhaus benefits The benefits of Passivhaus are numerous and far reaching. We'll explore these benefits and quantify their scale.
Module 4	Passivhaus certification What is Passivhaus certification and how can it be achieved? We'll answer these questions and look at some real world examples.
Module 5	Design optimisation Get high-level design advice to make Passivhaus easy and affordable. All the advice can be applied to a non-Passivhaus building and will help reduce energy consumption.
Module 6	Fabric first The principle of fabric first is more than just getting the insulation right - it's about comfort and longevity too. Find out how and why in this module.

Cost

The course is FREE for all, thanks to the support of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

Duration

The course is estimated to take 4.5 hours, with each module lasting approximately 45 minutes, so can be undertaken in an afternoon or alternatively spread over several weeks.
