Week 1 highlights

What a week it was for Passivhaus at COP26! The Passivhaus Trust, in partnership with the Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) Alliance, has become of 1 of 10 new UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) International Centre of Excellence for High Performance Buildings, we held an engaging event at the Build Better Now Pavilion, and we welcomed this year's winter edition of the International Passivhaus Open Days! Icebox Challenge: The results of a public experimentIce Box Challenge Glasgow: The results of a public experiment

Earlier this Summer we ran a design competition and simple experiment to visually demonstrate the benefits of adopting an energy efficient approach. Join Sarah Lewis and others highlight youth engagement with the Icebox Challenge Glasgow, what the results of the public installation mean for current building regulations and standards, as well as discussing Passivhaus as a pathway to improving our existing building stock and future new builds.

The Latin American Passive House Association are running an Icebox Challenge as part of the Santiago - Glasgow route. They'll be closing the boxes on the 11th November and announcing the results at the GABC pavilion. Learn more about the comparisons between the various Icebox Challenge installations.

A morning of climate education for the next generation, don't miss PHT member RAFT's (Retrofit Action For Tomorrow) 6-school assembly. The event will include activities based around Passivhaus fundamentals such as insulation, heating, and saving energy in buildings, and pupils will show the live retrofit construction works currently taking place in their schools. Children will share what they have learnt, following a live update from COP26.
