Tune in to Passivhaus retrofit
Passivhaus retrofit is coming to prime time, featuring in a forthcoming Channel 4 programme with Guy Martin - House Without Bills. The programme will shine a spotlight on what high-quality home retrofit can look like in practice, helping to create warmer, healthier homes with much lower energy demand. Watch Guy Martin’s 'House Without Bills' on Channel 4 on Monday 9 February 2026 at 9pm!

From cold to comfort: Why Passivhaus retrofit matters
Across the UK’s older housing stock, improving existing homes is one of the most important opportunities we have to increase comfort, reduce energy demand, and cut carbon emissions.
However, retrofitting existing buildings is complex: every home is different, and high-quality outcomes depend on careful planning, appropriate sequencing of measures, and a clear understanding of performance targets.
Passivhaus principles can be applied to retrofit through EnerPHit, an approach developed specifically for upgrading existing buildings. Whether a project is undertaken all at once or delivered in carefully planned stages over time, Passivhaus retrofit provides a robust framework for achieving high levels of performance, while helping to avoid common pitfalls.
Supporting better retrofit in practice: what's next?
In the weeks surrounding the broadcast, the Passivhaus Trust will be sharing a range of resources and opportunities to help homeowners and professionals take their next steps.
