Passivhaus Trust Newsletter April 2026

As energy prices and fuel security dominate the national conversation, April has shown just how vital high‑performance buildings have become. Momentum is building fast: we’ve launched our Residential Client Clubs, joined Wolfgang Feist in Dublin and at the International Passivhaus Conference, and seen public interest surge after Guy Martin’s House without Bills.

We’ve had another packed Passivhaus Workshop at the NSBRC, new retrofit case studies are now freely available to watch, and registration is open for the summer UK Passivhaus Open Days. If you can open your doors, we’d love you to be involved. Looking ahead, we’ll be building on our new Better Net Zero paper, and gearing up for the UK Passivhaus Trust Conference on 18 November. Save the date - and DON’T MISS the call for papers (now extended to 8 May).

School retrofit insights

Join the Passivhaus Trust at the penultimate webinar (of six) in advanced level 2026 Passivhaus Retrofit Masterclass series. This session brings together insights from leading non-domestic retrofit schools and emerging work from BE-ST's training centre. This is a must-attend session for anyone interested in retrofitting educational buildings and learning spaces.

The latest Scottish Passivhaus School

Montgomerie Park Primary School in Irvine is North Ayrshire Council's first Passivhaus certified school. The project has been partially funded as part of the Scottish Government’s £2bn Learning Real Estate Investment Programme (LEIP).

Academic Network

Academic Network

The Passivhaus Trust's Academic Network is a growing community for University or College course leaders and lecturers who are already teaching, or want to teach, Passivhaus and Passivhaus retrofit in higher education. 54 members  from 31 universities & colleges joined us for the launch event, but there is still an opportunity to join.

Better Net Zero

Better Net Zero

Our new Better Net Zero paper comes at a pivotal global moment. It also coincides with the recent launch of the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, where Passivhaus has been considered ‘deemed to satisfy’ certain aspects. The paper sets out how Passivhaus delivers real performance to robust targets, closing the performance gap.
